“I Hate People” / “Let’s Break The Law” (WXYZ ABCD 2) March 1982
Anti-Nowhere League | I Hate People (WXYZ) 1982 | A phrase I coined in last week’s Killing Joke feature, the Post-Punk Malaise was astutely summed up by Aztec Camera’s Roddy Frame at the end of their support slot for Killing Joke.
“Thank you new Woodstock, thank you new hippies.” For that is exactly what this messy bunch of no-hopers are, the new hippies, the illness, the sickness – the Plasmatics don’t know how right they were when they called their LP ‘New Hope For The Wretched’.
Anti-Nowhere League | I Hate People (WXYZ) 1982
The Anti-Nowhere League are one of the most useless bunches of cretins ever. ‘I Hate People’ revels in its own vomit, excrement and saliva – it just does not have one redeeming quality.
The lyrics are banal, there isn’t a tune, the music is poorly played and produced . . . I could go on (I usually do), but even writing about singles like this bores me to tears. (Sounds, 13/03/82)

Sex Pistols copy. Cheap, cynical and unpleasant. (Record Mirror, 20/03/82)
