“Streets Of London” / “So What” (WXYZ Records ABCD 1) January 1982
The Anti-Nowhere League | Streets Of London | (WXYZ) 1982 | More heavy metal dressed up as New Punk. The Anti-Nowhere League are, in fact, a load of old bikers managed – or so I’m told – by promoter John Curd. That’s why they pop up at all these punk festivals, folks.
As such, they fall far short of what they’re cracked up to be and for once I’m forced to agree with Bushell – yes, I’m sure the Gonads can do better. (Sounds, 02/01/82)

Uh, oh, those maestros of the wizard wheeze, everybody’s favourite idiots The Anti-Nowhere League must be here.
Yep, there they are look, strangling the hostess’s poodle, under the pool table, defecating on the carpet and generally making the world a merrier place to live in.
Hear them giggle their hideous way through the Ralph McTell‘s puke-worthy “Streets Of London”. Not only unfunny but totally unoriginal; this is even worse than sicko old has-beens Splodgenessabounds.
If Ralph didn’t make you want to kick every tramp you ever came across, this version will. (Melody Maker, 09/01/82)

As for the cherubic Anti-Nowhere League . . . . yes, it is that ‘Streets Of London’, folk foghorn Ralph McTell’s timeless antiphon regurgitated with all the traditional poignancy by Winston, PJ, Magoo and Animal: “Let me take you by the hand/And lead you through the streets of London/I will show you something/THAT WILL MAKE YOU SICK!” (NME, 02/01/82)
