Blondie | Dreaming | (Chrysalis) 1979

“Dreaming” / “Sound Asleep” (Chrysalis CHS 2350) September 1979

Blondie | Dreaming | (Chrysalis) 1979 | Woooomph. After the sickly sweet and annoying perfection of the last three singles, Blondie shoot straight back to the pounding sixties feel of the first album.

A heavy pop sound that attacks from the word go. The lyrics are typically precise but distant:

“When I met you in the restaurant, you could tell I was no debutant.”

sings Debbie and the entire song is packed with similar little lyrical twists that are due to explode from a thousand juke boxes.

The sheer energy of ‘Dreaming’ makes it the best Blondie single since ‘Picture This’ although the very same reason could prove it to be the least successful. (Sounds)
