Wayne Fontana is still trying to get a hit and it’s a shame because he sings well. “Never An Everyday Thing,” which is a sweet song, his voice isn’t far enough forward and the backing is very ordinary. (Penny Valentine, Record Mirror, 12/10/68)

Slow at the start, but building rather excitingly . . . again Wayne comes up with a fair enough performance but somehow he’s lost that hit-making touch. One knows not why this should be. But if one disregards his recent misses, one should wonder if this is not the single to get him back.
