Dion comes from a time when so-so singers couldn’t cut it – they either never got heard or got exposed quick and got out of the way.

To have it, you really have to have it, no smoke and mirrors then – not a minute to spare- rough and ready – glorious and grand – grieving with heartache and feeling too much but still with the always “better not try it” attitude.

The alternate “My Back Pages” is a story in itself. At one point, Gary Usher had written on the master “original single version,” indicating that this version was initially scheduled for release.

This intriguing mix features the organ more prominently, plus a startling guitar solo from McGuinn played through a Leslie Cabinet which literally transforms the song. (recorded, December 1966)
