“No Memories” / The Five Questions” (Rogue Records RR-028) January 2025
The Sound Reasons | No Memories | (Rogue) 2025 | After an absence since 2018, the Sound Reasons have recently stepped back into the recording studio and are working on new songs.
The line-up has completely changed since their Groovie Records incarnation with only ever-present Sumiji Takahashi prowling the garage cave.
He is now joined by some garage punk veterans who all have solid experience in other ’60s style punk groups making this refreshed combo a band to watch in future.
The latest batch of songs are presented in full sonic beauty as a four-track EP on the much admired Rogue Records based in Toulouse, France.
It’s almost impossible to highlight a stand-out track because they’re all very good and display a group bang on form with plenty of untapped potential.
For instance, “No Memories” has a certain folk-psych charm, a sublime sound with echoed vocals and jangle that should be explored more by the Sound Reasons.

The Sound Reasons | No Memories | (Rogue) 2025
Los Angeles based 60’s garage mainstays, The Sound Reasons, are back from the grave to give you their latest evolution in sound in this four song EP on Rogue Records!
This is their third release, following their first EP in 2013 and a LP in 2018, both on Groovie Records from Portugal.
The A side includes “Today’s Another Day”, a punchy early psych driven stomper and “The Five Questions”, an ode to protest and rebellion of the current world psyche.
The B side has the Zombie-esque “No Memories” and a raucous cover of “Why, Baby, Why”, a 1967 song by the Japanese band The Beavers. (Rogue Records)
