The Wyld Gooms – “Thinkin’ Bout You” (Calico Wally CW-004) April 2023
The second single by The Wyld Gooms has been worth the wait and what a garage punk explosion it is too. This Los Angeles based group must surely be the best, if not the wildest group in their town.
The top side, “Thinkin’ Bout You” is a joyous noise of controlled fuzz punk energy and potent verve.
There’s skull rattling bass bombs, deranged drums, wyld compact organ notes, screaming guitars and crypt kickin’ screaming humans. What’s not to like?
They’ve even got the good grace to include a mid song Count Five rave-up.

Can you imagine the uproar if this young group of misfits graced the main stage at a corporate shit show like Glastonbury.
Someone make it happen and make it quick before The Wyld Gooms start recording tender love ballads.
On the flip there’s a gritty fuzztoned version of “Hey Tiger”, originally released by The Topsy Turbys as a B-side at the end of 1965.
400 copies of the single have been released on Calico Wally, a dynamic new label from Spain. They are also home to another ravin’ garage punk group The Low Spirits.
